Sharing my story has sparked strong and enduring connections with the people I partner with.
My former working life began some 20 years ago in some of the most prestigious global banking houses in Jersey, Channel Islands where I was born and grew up.
I worked my way up from Bank Secretary (when using a golf-ball typewriter and index cards to keep records was the eighties norm) to EA to Senior and Board Executives (when the arrival of the PC changed everything)!
My first experience of 'Down Under' began in 1998 and after three months travelling around Country in a big green 'Oz Experience' bus, as any wandering Sagittarian will know, I realised it was time for a radical life change.
Fast forward to 2003 and my now husband and I decided to up-sticks and emigrate to NSW where I would study hospitality for two years (yep, I'm also a trade qualified chef). I had some truly amazing experiences studying and working in the hospitality industry (graduating with a Diploma in Hospitality, with distinction and 3 years industry experience under my belt).
But my passion for admin and keeping execs focused never went away and when we finally settled in the Gold Coast Hinterland (Queensland) in 2006, I had an itch to return to what I do best, so I became a corporate EA once again.
Working with an awesome entrepreneur for 3 years (this is probably where my passion for running a business really began), then the CEO of a banking start-up for 12 months (to get their mess of a legacy admin function working smarter), then landing a position working with a CIO/HR Executive for a 12 month secondment to set up the IT function at a government water service agency, before finally transitioning into Local Government full time when that closed, I managed to stay still for 8 years, evolving my experience and skill set.
Fast forward to 2015 and we're on the move again, heading for Western Australia with our dog and two cats, in a white parcel van called 'Tigger' to begin a new chapter; our Queensland life reduced to nine plastic boxes.
WA is where I was given the opportunity to transition my skills into Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement in a Capital City LGA (EA skills are an easy transition into this space) and I spent 5 years coordinating the project administration function implementing a first ever CRM. When the project concluded, I was asked if I wanted to take on the stakeholder engagement function for the Customer Experience team coordinating stakeholder engagement activities for multiple, often conflicting capital works and operational projects which I loved for three years.
I think I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but it was 'never the right time'. But the Universe works in magical ways and when the Pandemic brought the world to a standstill, I realised this was the right time to take everything I had learnt in my 20 year career and turn it into a business: and 'Two Paths Align' was born.
Almost three years on, and my purpose is still as clear as it was when I started this journey: to provide kick-ass admin and stakeholder engagement support for busy people.
I'll never stop learning and I will always be grateful for the opportunities I have been given that have bought me to where I am today.
